Sometimes it really pays to have more birthdays. One the one hand you get to live longer, studies have shown the more birthdays you have, the longer you live. It’s true.

It’s also true that once your children get old enough to have their own phone, baby sit and do algebra, they are old enough to plan surprises. For you. Their one and only Momma.

My oldest thought it was something akin to death to not have a birthday party, so she took it on herself to contact some of my friends and plan a surprise birthday celebration.

It was lovely. I put on my jammies immediately after we got home from lunch on Sunday. She asked me if I was sure I wanted to put those on, and I assured her I did indeed. Then my friends started coming.

And you know it was absolutely perfect. We sat around chatting and drinking coffee all afternoon. The perfect day.

So what does your perfect afternoon look like?
